Filters and Staking Bet Control ![]() Select your bet type:
and then the value of that stake, profit or liability. Then select what stake type:
If you set the ‘Stake’ to 5 and select ‘Percentage of Bank’ then the stake that will be used will be 5% of you Betfair Balance. % of Balance: The balance used is the balance at the time of placing the bet. Initial % of Balance: The balance used is the balance at the time you logged in to the bot. Session Ratchet % of Balance: The balance used is the highest the bot has seen your balance in the day of the race. Ratchet % of Balance: The balance used is the highest the bot has ever seen your balance to be. The ‘Ratchet’ settings are so you can ratchet you stake, otherwise you will always end up placing more on losing bets than winning ones. Max Stake setting will safeguard against spending more of your account than you wish, set this to your comfortable max bet size by typing in the box provided. If you leave it at 0 it will not be used. This is with special regard to betting to liability or to profit (see Bet Type controls) Bet Category % Persistence:
Max Setting a maximum amount or max liability is a safety measure if using percentage of bank, liability or profit bets or to protect again huge orders dues to unexpectedly low/high odds. The Odds Ladder (Previously the Stake Ladder but now much improved) The Odds ladder is a way of you being able to change the stake, and other filters, of the bet depending on the odds of the selection you have chosen. Bet Minder allows you set set up as many Odds Ladders as you wish with the Odds Ladder Manager. You can then select the ladder you want to use to apply to your bets. You can read more about the Odds Ladder here. Odds Control ![]() If the selection is outside of your odds range it will not be ordered, however checking ‘Order at Limit’ will order the selection if the price is worse than you have set (higher for lay, lower for back), but will order it at that ‘worst’ value. For example a back selection with odds of 5, settings: min odds 8, max odds 20. The bet will be ordered at odds of 8. It will not be matched unless the odds moves to 8’s on Betfair in which case it will be automatically filled. Sure Bet, Profit Bet or Fixed Odds? Sure Bet will be most peoples choice most if the time. It adjusts the price (in tics) against the current Betfair price to try and ensure a match. A Profit Bet will adjust based on the current price to try and achieve a higher profit that is available. In this case you are the one asking for a price to be matched as opposed to taking what’s available. If you check ‘Rev’ the ordered price will me adjusted in relation to the opposing bet type odds. This can protect you from a big gap in-between the back and lay prices Fixed simply orders the bet at the odds you set, in this case 1.01. Time Control ![]() This can be set to ‘Time to Post’ in hours, minutes and seconds before or after the advertised off time. So if I want to bet 10 minutes before the race time I will have 00:10:00 and Before checked. Using the ‘Time of Day’ option, you can set it to make the bets at a certain time of day like 14:25, if you use this style it will put all your bets on at 14.25. If you select ‘When in Play’ The bot will start to look at the race at the advertised off time. It will keep looking every 10 seconds until it finds it is in play. Bet Minder is not a trading bot and is design to have very low call rates to Betfair. It cannot be set to look several times a second. Alt Odds ![]() Arbing ![]() You bet is arbed off at the time to post that you set. You can set the persistence of the arb portion to ‘Keep’ in play or to be a BSP in case the arb portion does not get matched. ‘Adjust tics’ option takes the current price (at the time of arbing) and adjusts the tics. We suggest a negative value here to try and ensure the bet gets matched. Please note, a negative value denotes a lower value so if laying the price will go up with a negative value. The ‘Percentage’ option takes a percentage of the original odds and tries to make you that percentage profit. Please be aware you will not always achieve this so think about setting a persistence on the arb bet to catch unmatched arbs. Runners ![]() If the number of runners in the race are outside of your runner range the bet(s) not be ordered If the sum of the reduction factors of the withdrawn horses is over your ‘Max Total Reduction Factor’ value then the bet(s) will not be ordered. Unless there is a zero setting in which case it will be ignored. Each Way ![]() Dutching ![]() To group or dutch a set of selections, click the ‘group’ check box and then add you selections. You can mix grouped and non grouped bets in each market. You can also add more than 1 set of ‘grouped’ bets in each market by giving your selections a different name (just above the add selection button) and they will be ordered as individual groups with the stakes being calculated separately from other set of grouped bets and non grouped bets. The Min ROL (Return on Liability) ensures you don’t place dutch/group bets with little value (costing you a lot for not a lot of gain). Simply set the value (or 0 for ignore) and if the group does not return the minimum ROL then they will not be placed. This is a big requirement for ‘as liability’ bets. You may also have a Max ROL, this will prevent, lets say, 2 100/1 horses being backed. ROL ONLY APPLIES IF YOU HAVE ‘Dutch Stake’ SELECTED. You can set backs as profit and lays as liability for dutch bets as well as normal bets. For back dutch bets the bot will place stakes accordingly to make the amount in your stake box if any of your dutch bets win, the loss made (if non of them win) depends on the odds but you are recommended to use the ‘Min ROL’ to ensure that the loss is not too high. If you set £10 ‘as profit’ and ‘Min ROL’ of 100% for example, if the potential loss is greater that £10 then the bets will not be placed. To Dutch the bets make sure you have ‘Dutch Stake’ checked, otherwise it will place a normal stake on each selection. If any for reason any of the selections within a ‘Group’ with ‘Cancel Group if doesn’t quality’ checked do NOT qualify then the whole group will be excluded. This means you can select a group of runners where ALL runners must qualify for ANY of the selections to be ordered by the bot. As indicated, you can dutch stake this group if you wish. Please pay special attention to ‘order at limit’ in the odds control section. Let say you have 2 runners in a group and have an odds range of 5-10 with ‘order at limit’ checked and you are backing them. Runner A has odds on Betfair of 4, runner B has 7, Bet Minder will order the selection A at 5 and therefore both runners will be ordered. Runner B will be matched but Runner A will only be matched if the odds on Betfair go up and fill the order, otherwise you will only have 1 of your group of 2 runners matched. Either take the advantage of ‘order at limit’ risking that you may not get your whole group matched or don’t use ‘order at limit’. We cannot guarantee that all runners in a group are matched, we can only check that they all qualify before placing them all. For example, if there is a sudden change in odds or there is a non runner after the selections are ordered then 1 or more of a group may not match. Fav Ranks ![]() Rank When you select a meeting the ‘rank list’ will be populated with number 1 to the number of runners running in that event. By checking numbers on you are specifying ‘ranks’ (favouritisms) that you are wanting the selection to be allow or be excluded. 1, 3, 4 (allow) means you are wanting the selection to be first, third or forth favourite in the race, otherwise not to place the bet. 5, 6, 7, 8 (exclude) means you are wanting the selection to be anything but 5th, 6th, 7th,or 8th favourite. You can click The rankings can be based on current Betfair prices, Betfair Starting Prices, Live Show or Forecast prices and you can join the rankings. If you select more than one method of ranking the runners you can say that ’All’ of the rankings must allow or exclude or ‘Any’ can allow or exclude a selection. Please note Live Show and Forecast are for UK and Irish horse racing only and BSP prices will be near BSP figures when not in play and actual if in play. Market Value ![]() Order Handling ![]() Stake Splits This box allows you to stipulate how your bets will be handled, if you are wagering a substantial amount of money you may wish to utilise the Split Stake control. This will split your wager into smaller chunks and order them into the market over a few seconds. Use the Delay value box to tell the software by how many seconds apart you want the splits to be added into the market, the value typed in this box will be how many seconds will pass before each part is fed in. Auto Fill This will attempt to fill unmatched orders. It will ‘chase’ the bets, adjusting the current unmatched price those number of tics towards the current price. The bot will do this with the frequency of the number of seconds you set until the bet is matched or the bet is void.
